The Miller's Cottage
(Mr. Johannes Sundsvalen will be playing the Miller Son's Bridal march on the Hardanger fiddle. Perfomance due in 2 minutes)

The Miller Son's Cottage is a log cabin - a cotter's cottage from the mid 18th century. This cottage was originally part of the Steinhaud farm be the Nes Stone Church at Nesodden. At the bicentenary of the Miller's Sons birth in 2001 the cottage was moved to Evju Bygdetun and renovated. The Miller Son, Mr Torgeir Augundson (1801-1872) is generally considered the most characteristic and famous master Hardangerfiddler in the country.

It was in this cottage Torgeir lived with his family from about 1814 up until the mid-1820s. These were undoubtedly formative years for the 'Miller' - local lingo - and it was at his time he became a popular and well-known fiddler.
The cottage consists of a living room and a kove )i.e. small room used as bedroom or storeroom) with furnishings kept as they were 200 years ago. The fireplace is made of stone, sand and mud. A local saying has it that music emanates from the walls, the fact remains that concerts are being held here in summer and winter alike.
